All kinds of random

I'm in Lexington now! Man, we had to get up quite early to get down here. It's worth it though because Punch Brothers tonight!

And I'm starving.

So, the [livejournal.com profile] deancastiel Renegade Angels fic authors were revealed the other day. I can't imagine anyone was that surprised to discover I'd written the Kentucky fic considering how often I go on about this state. In case you were wondering, Dean et al. end up in Paducah because that's where I was born. Sure I only lived there for a few years, but I started there and so that's where they ended up. It's like my Lawrence, only we moved because my dad joined the navy rather than because he was searching for the thing that pinned my mom to their bedroom ceiling.

I can't get the phrase "In dying, he defeated death" outta my head. It was a bit of morning comfort for me, but now it's just rumbling around in my head like loose change, heh. See, this is what happens to me. I don't get music stuck in my head. Well, not only music. I get words stuck in there on loops.

I realize that most of my posts are entitled something about 'random'. I think I should just accept that I'm a random person and be done with it.

But yes, I think I might take a nap now. I'm going to try and write some more Soul Piece before the concert. This chapter is annoying because it's all a bunch of puzzle pieces that don't fit anywhere. At least I think it will be. Who knows, by the time I sit down to finish it, it might turn out to be the epic tale of Dean and Castiel looking for Dean's lost shoe or something.

OMG that happens to me too, it's so annoying! Sometimes it's quotes from a book I've been reading, or a totally random unimportant thing someone said from a really old spn episode. Oh, btw, now I'm going to have that stuck in my head too :D

[identity profile] cloudyjenn.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh good, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I mean, yes, I get music stuck in there like everyone else, but this word thing is way worse.

Oh, btw, now I'm going to have that stuck in my head too.

Ack, it's spreading more! Sorry!

;)

I wish I had known that you were coming to Lexington...

I left a voicemail for you about a week ago.

[identity profile] cloudyjenn.livejournal.com 2009-10-07 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously? I'm an idiot. *headdesk* I love how I go between completely dead between the ears to a whirling vortex of incomprehensible nonsense. I'm really sorry about that! Are you going to be around town tonight? I won't be leaving until around 9 o'clock.

[identity profile] valaquenta62.livejournal.com 2009-10-09 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I was in town that night but I didn't see your message until after. Things have been crazy with school anyway. It's sapping my life force slowly but surely.

[identity profile] cloudyjenn.livejournal.com 2009-10-11 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Blech...I think my life force is being sapped for the opposite reason of having nothing to do. Both suck, although school stuff is worse because of the added stress of actually having grades recorded, etc. I've been putting out job apps, but so far, no bites. I hope school lightens up for you soon!

[identity profile] valaquenta62.livejournal.com 2009-10-11 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, school is a struggle. But that's the nature of things.

Good luck with the job applications. Hopefully you can get something that you'll enjoy doing.

And yet another one put in yesterday, the wheel keeps spinning. At this rate, I'm going to end up selling my body to science or something.

You know, as long as it pays well...

The Wheel of Time turns and ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend.

[identity profile] cloudyjenn.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
My ability to find a job is about to become as likely as legend...

[identity profile] valaquenta62.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
It is frustrating at the moment. I've been trying to find something part-time and that's pretty much impossible.

But, it should hopefully work in your favor that you're looking for something full time.

[identity profile] valaquenta62.livejournal.com 2009-10-10 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Not sure if you're still keeping up with The Clone Wars or not, but they have the first two episodes of Season 2 posted on starwars.com

I don't know how long they'll be left up. If I remember correctly they usually take one down as each new episode airs.

[identity profile] cloudyjenn.livejournal.com 2009-10-11 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh thank you for reminding me! I do want to keep watching it for sure. I checked when it was going to start a couple of weeks ago, but I forgot to set it to record. I don't watch a ton of TV shows, but they are so scattered around that I keep losing track of them.

Are they moaning on about that bounty hunter?

[identity profile] valaquenta62.livejournal.com 2009-10-11 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
He was a main focus of one (maybe both, I can't remember) of the episodes. But that seems to have been wrapped up for the moment with the ending of the second episode.

They feature mistress of the archives Jedi Master Jocasta Nu in one of them. It was interesting to see more of her since she was only in one of the movies for like 30 seconds.

I looked her up online and it turns out that Anakin killed her violently when he attacked the Jedi Temple. Good times.

[identity profile] cloudyjenn.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Jocasta Nu! I always like when she shows up as the stuffy Madame Pince-like character in fanfiction. I'm glad she's getting more airtime in the show.

I wonder if Anakin made a point to get to her and slice her up good or just happened to mow her down in a collection of other violent deaths?

These are the questions that plague me.

[identity profile] valaquenta62.livejournal.com 2009-10-15 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Wookiepedia says the following about the event. I'll also provide the link to the picture of her death as it was evidently depicted in a cut scene in the Revene of the Sith video game:

During Operation: Knightfall in 19 BBY, Jocasta told her latest padawan, Jin-Lo Rayce, to flee the Temple through underground passages into the Coruscant underbelly. She later faced Darth Vader, wielding her blue lightsaber. The Dark Lord lifted her with the Force Grip and impaled Jocasta through the chest after she denied him access to the Temple's signal beacon, killing her instantly. Jocasta's body was found by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda when they returned to Coruscant.

"Revenge of the Sith" not Revene...

[identity profile] cloudyjenn.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Holy crap, Anakin. Methinks someone bothered the dark lord one too many times about overdue books...

Hopefully she got the full Jedi burial rites. Although they must have had a hard time actually doing that for all the Jedi that was killed since it was ALL OF THEM.

*sigh*

[identity profile] valaquenta62.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, library books....

I take comfort only in the fact that Master Jocasta was able to instruct her padawan to leave the Temple secretly and he was able to go on to found a secret order of Force users that kept the Jedi teachings (with some changes) alive during the Empire period.

But Force choke Master Jocasta? Really? Really, you didn't see that coming? Unless I'm mistaken a Jedi Consular that goes on to become a Master is known as a Sage Master. And Sage Master Jocasta Nu, Keeper of the Archives, couldn't anticipate Force choke from a Sith Apprentice?

[identity profile] cloudyjenn.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You forget that none of the Jedi masters could do anything of any use in the first three movies. Once you recall that, everything becomes clear and makes perfect sense.

[identity profile] valaquenta62.livejournal.com 2009-10-18 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
True. The Jedi Masters should run for Congress.
