Episode one through Episode four reactions

I don't yet understand why Scott is the main character. He's supposed to be the average guy, but I think he might be *too* average.

On the other hand, I can see why Stiles is the stand-out character. The actor is clearly the best at his profession and I include all the adults in this judgement. Good acting can save a bad character. In this case, it makes a funny character incredibly endearing. I don't get why he likes Lydia. Not even with the explanation that teenaged boys are led by their dicks. She's thoroughly unpleasant and he doesn't seem the type to care about popularity. It doesn't compute well to me at the moment.

Derek does the whole mysterious older stranger thing fairly well. That actor is another of the more convincing ones, which I assume helped his popularity rise. I noticed that he had a very slight Cas-like moment where he mind-read Stiles at their very first meeting. He keeps telling Scott that he will need him, but hasn't yet really shown why, so I assume that's coming later.

Lacrosse...well, I will say this. The moment I remembered most in the pilot was when Scott beat that Jackson shit. That probably has to do with how much I want to knee Jackson in the cock though.

I don't like Allison's aunt. Actually her character descriptions are fine and it's actually interesting to see a rage-filled high-stakes hunter that's female, but the actress says her lines like an obnoxious valley girl and instead of getting that unhinged thrill-seeker vibe I feel the character is supposed to be, she just annoyed the shit out of me. When she forced Scott to sit back down, I wanted to punch her. Probably because I deal with assholes all day long and I can't deal with it.

I don't get what the fuck Derek actually did to his arm in episode four. He pressed grains of the same stuff that hurt him into his wound and that helped? Idk. At any rate, I was glad to see him and Stiles interact since it's apparently the second coming of Destiel and they hadn't actually been on screen together save one scene.

It actually offends me that slash pairings can't be filmed because they'd gross out general audiences, but we are subjected to multiple shots of Scott and Allison sucking face. Or as I like to call them, Cookie Cutter and Dipshit. Their romance has so little chemistry, I'm not convinced they filmed in the same room as each other. 'I like you. I like you too' is the least interesting set up for a romance in the history of all time and yet writers use it over and over again. They've done pretty much nothing to make me care that these two limp noodles like one another. Come to think of it, they've also done zero to show *why* they'd choose to expend their tepid flirting abilities on one another. All I know is that I'm subjected to shots of their bland romance in between life and death situations and all it does is highlight how utterly useless and soul-numbing the entire farce really is.

I do like how they signal that it's time for another horrible make-out scene by playing shitty romance pop music.

Right now, my impression is not great. I love werewolves and the parts pertaining to them, I still find interesting. But the show is not doing a very good job of blending the 'teen' part to the 'wolf' part. The teen part is so boring, I'm shocked it managed to get filmed. On the other hand, the werewolf parts keep me into the story and make me want to see what happens next. Every time they leave a werewolf or hunter scene to show Scott fumbling his way through a painful romantic interlude or moaning about lacrosse, I literally have to stop the video and question my life choices.

I want to keep watching though because a lot of people I generally agree with and trust say it's worth watching.

Your thoughts are the thoughts of many when they first watch Teen Wolf don't worry. Look up the wordwithwerewolves tumblr and read the reviews of the episodes you've seen and feel comforted when your feels are mirrored there.

MTE for all of that, really. Scott/Allison is boring and when i take a snack break. A nd Scott is apotato. I have gifs.of him getting hit by a car, hit by balls, tazed, and hit by a car again. Because that's how i roll.

But season one is like... It had it's Moments (when ever stiles or coach is on the screen) and it gets more enjoyable. Scott is horrible and not like bricks. But then it gets really tense and more action y towards the end. And season 2 is legit good. Like, not good for a teen show but/good/.

It's worth it. And if you need it, i'll link you my Scott being hurt gifs.

I agree with you concerning Stiles and Derek, not so much concerning Scott, Allison, and Kate. (I dunno? I just like them?)

But as for Jackson and Lydia, they start getting interesting at episode 5. Even in season 2 I don't think they've really reached their full potential, but they're definitely more interesting characters than they seem to be in the first four episodes.

And this might be an unpopular opinion, but I don't think there's much to support Stiles/Derek. They have really entertaining interactions, but their characters aren't exactly close and they don't share a ton of scenes. Just warning you because I also went in thinking they would be the second coming of Destiel and... they're not. (Sorry, Sterek shippers, please don't kick me out of fandom.)

If you want to get upset about lack of visibility for lgbtq characters while Scott and Allison are playing tonsil hockey, get upset at the tragic underuse of the show's one canon gay character: Danny, who deserves a much bigger role than he has gotten so far.

But really, I will forgive the show all its faults as long as it keeps putting Stiles on screen.

I never came across someone with Teen Wolf feels the same as me until this very moment. I hope you don't mind, but I'm pretty seriously flailing at the moment because I don't see Stiles/Derek at. all. I understand people ship it, and they can ship it forever for all I care, but I don't see support for it in the narrative.

Jackson and Lydia become VERY interesting, especially Lydia, but I basically stan for all the ladies in Teen Wolf (same as I do in Supernatural) because fandom is very, very unfair to women much of the time. And Danny, for the love of GOD, Danny. <3333

I like Scott, Allison, and Kate, too. And Mrs. Argent even though she scares the shit out of me. I think Kate plays at youth to appeal to Allison. And Scott is an adorable puppy who actually gets more interesting and adept at the role in season two, probably because he's given more to do than just wolf-out and love Allison. I think his skills are a direct correlation to his being outshined by the dialogue given (understandably) to Stiles, who performs wonderfully.

Just...yay. I'm just going to enjoy this moment because I wasn't kidding when I said you were the only one thus far that I've come across with similar opinions.

Okay, this wasn't actually directed at me, but yaye for bringing people together!

I'm glad Lydia gets better. Unfair treatment or not, I'm comfortable saying I don't like her at the moment. Her personality rubs me the wrong way big time. Then again, those I liked from either gender were far rarer than those I was not so fond of. I haven't seen enough of Mrs. Argent to tell one way or another and Allison honestly hasn't done much other than be boring with Scott yet. She was sort of getting more involved towards the end of ep 4. Jackson was still 2 dimensional jock guy as well, so it's cool that he gets a good storyline.

Um, right, well obviously my opinions are colored by my lack of exposure, so onward I plunge to see how everything develops.

I don't blame you at all for disliking Lydia and Jackson at this point. I hated them too, but there are a couple of scenes in episode 5 that really made me rethink both characters and set them up for a lot of development. And Allison starts getting interesting as more pressure is put on her to choose an allegiance to either Scott or her family, especially in season 2.

Okay, I'll shut up now because I know how frustrating it is to try to watch a new show and put up with fans telling you to keep watching because it gets better, honest!

Hehe, sorry! Got excited.

I don't think it's unfair for you to dislike Lydia, particularly with where you are in the series right now. In fact, you're pretty much where I was about four episodes in, which says some good and bad things about the show.

One one hand, they take stock teen characters you'd probably feel strongly about (love or hate) and eventually develop them.

On the other hand, I think doing that for too many episodes is dangerous because people that don't continue on with it don't get to see that (or even see hints of it), so I like how your opinions mirrored my early impressions. I'd love to think television shows would be given enough time to prove themselves, but I also think that the writing has to do a service to the audience and try to imply that there is more depth to unlikeable characters early on. Teen Wolf was, admittedly, pretty boring in its first few episodes. It picked up steam, but actually I think a lot of the turn around happened in season two which is kind of not a great situation...

I do think some (not you, but mostly current hardcore fans) are unnecessarily mean to Lydia in the fandom as a whole, though (that comment was never directed at your dislike, jsyk!). Like in SPN fandom, a lot of women don't get treated well even when they do no worse than what the main characters do.

Or in Avengers fandom, for instance, Black Widow got criticized for being a strong woman that was a bit frightened of the Hulk. Loki, who basically is really into mass murder if the events of Thor are any indication, gets forgiven, perhaps even more so by those who want to ship him. IDK, I'm rambling now but just know that comment wasn't directed at you but to the double standards of fandom. I've already seen people defend Jackson's behavior and turn around and call Lydia a bitch which makes me make this face O_o.

Woot! Yes, it's hard to find other fans who like the ladies and are puzzled by Sterek. XD

Oh God, I was pretty neutral on Mrs. Argent until season 2 when SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS. You know the one. And then I loved her. And Chris. Basically the whole Argent family is fascinating to me as a Supernatural fan, because they are the Campbells as seen from the perspective of the monsters. And I can see why Kate wouldn't appeal to everyone, but I love her and all her bitchy moral ambiguity.

Well, I have no room to talk about that pairing yet since they haven't really shown up together. I get liking a pairing based on what they could be, I suppose. I just thought it'd be a bigger deal since so many people really love them.

Poor Danny....it's great that being gay doesn't seem to have the terrible connotations that so many shows give it...now they should actually incorporate those characters more!

Yay, you're watching Teen Wolf! Only 1 & 1/2 day for you to catch up to all of the episodes in order to watch the season finale monday night? XD

I would recommend reading this primer if you haven't yet: http://hellotailor.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/teen-wolf-101-introduction-to-eighth.html

There is a lot of little red riding hood homages with Stiles in red (you know it's going to be an important episode if he wears that color) and I do like Lydia, although Stiles seems to be leaning more towards the bisexual side as of season 2. Did you know that they end up going to a gay club for an episode? It was really fun~ There is character development like A TON at the end of season 1 (and 2 for Scott because what says character development when he's worried about something else than lacrosse & Allison?) because the major antagonist shows up and SHIT GOES DOWN AT THE DANCE! I heard that people liked reading the accompanying Teen Wolf book, "On Fire"? I really enjoy the show and when you get up to season 2, make sure to check out heathicorn.tumblr.com episode recaps since they're accurate and hilarious~

Please keep writing your reactions to Teen Wolf too~ (or tweet like crazy about them!)

My God...
How did you read my mind? Are you God? Are you my soul-mate?
You just wrote every single thing I think about the show. Except for a few things that piss me off even more in later episodes (I won’t give you any spoilers). But one thing you probably noticed by now is how Scott can sometimes hear people burping across town but can’t hear the motherfuckin’ alpha/danger/whatever right behind/close to him. For some reason this drives me mad, that there isn't ONE writer capable of keeping continuity when Scott’s powers are concerned – or even one bastard on set to point this out to the director.
Another thing I don’t like is Danny. It’s like “Hey, Danny is gay. Let’s only include him in scenes where we can make funny situations with gay-theme things. And people will laugh because gay things are funny. Specially when there are non-gay characters on the scene.” I also loathe his actor. The way he delivers his lines…
People also swore to me up and down that the show was amazing, and this and that. When I pointed out its flaws, they were like “No, but season 1 isn’t so good, you have to watch season 2, go watch season 2”. Not so sure I will. I REALLY want to get on the Derek/Stiles ship, but I just don’t see it.
Maybe I just need some fanfiction to open my eyes for me.

I think season three's Motel California, with Ethan/Danny will change your mind. :) They're kinda really cute together!
